Real immaterial structures arise from organized material substrate. Arithmetic from transistors, logic from brains, morality from social groups, consciousness from neural networks. The emergent patterns are substrate-independent (same arithmetic from different physical realizations) but substrate-dependent for their existence (no transistors, no computation).
