Core position
Real structures are identified by independent convergence under reality-pressure. Independent civilizations converge on core moral norms; independent traditions converge on the same logical insights; independent measurement systems converge on the same physical patterns. Agents who aren’t communicating have no shared cause for agreement other than the structure of what they’re both interacting with. Convergence is evidence for reality; accumulated state is the verification layer.

Both can be true of the same data, so the dispute is unresolvable and each side reads the other as arguing in bad faith. A gap has a counterparty built in, so the differential frame manufactures an enemy structurally — regardless of whether the numbers are bad. Second axis: one legible criterion standing in for a multivariate reason (WMD; and the diagnostic inverse where the criterion is satisfied and the policy continues anyway). Collects derivative-vs-level and absolute-vs-relative specimens that predate it

Open threads
- Verification-layer thesis page — accumulated state as the thing being verified against. Currently only in memory; deserves its own page.
- Convergence limits — every culture developed rain dances too. When does convergence indicate truth vs shared cognitive bias? Needs a principled answer.
- Self-reference — to argue logic is constructed, you use logic. Fatal circularity or normal feature of foundational inquiry? (Partly answered by The Regress Problem: it’s the performative escape — denial presupposes what it denies — not circularity.)
Objectivist engagement
Closest philosophical neighbors: same bottom-up method, secular grounding, reason as primary tool. Disagreements are sharp because the shared ground is so large:
- A = A as absolute — quantum superposition challenges it; our position: identity is a reliable macro-scale pattern, not a cosmic axiom
- Concept formation as uniquely human — evidence from primates, elephants, cetaceans, corvids disagrees; cognition is a continuum
- Logic as discovered vs. constructed — Objectivists: discovered. Our position: constructed but convergent. See Logic and Mathematics.
